A Houston Icon - on FIRE!!

We went to the Astros game last night (pictures to come) and found out on our way home that Gallery Furniture was on fire! It was a 4-11 (which means like 20 fire trucks were there)! How sad -- everyone knows Mattress Mac and Gallery Furniture!! When we passed we couldn't see the fire because it was in the warehouse behind the showroom, but we could definately see the glow and the ladder truck shooting water on it.

Although very sad, those who know me know it made my week to get a little piece of the action!

Congratulations BUH!

Congratulations to Uncle BUH (aka Brandon) on his huge accomplishment of being a college graduate! RaRa and Mimi threw him a fun party with all the trimmings....see the sign they made -- very creative. The cake (yes, the apple and cafeteria tray are cakes) was made by Brandon's fiance's mom -- unbelievable! Much love and many high fives! We are so proud.

Isaac and Rebekah

I love this statement by Beth Moore regarding Isaac and Rebekah during the time they could not conceive. Although God promised Abraham (Isaac's father) he would bring forth MANY generations, sometimes we still question God if it is not in our timing....

"Had Isaac and Rebekah conceived the first year, they would have been tremendously less attentive to spiritual purpose and divine participation." Beth Moore

Through the hard time BJ and I have gone through in the past couple months, I have found this statement to be SO TRUE. If I never experienced losing our last baby and struggling through hard time, I KNOW I would have been TREMENDOUSLY less attentive to spiritual purpose and divine (GOD) participation. Praise God for our lessons and growth through the valleys in our lives!

Prayers for our Firefighters

Please pray for the families of the two firefighters who died Easter Sunday. One was a captain with 30 years experience and one a rookie, this being his first fire. BJ's very good buddy was at the fire as the Engine Operator. It is extremely sad for the families, crew, and all Houston Fire Fighters.

This hits very close to home. BJ will most likely promote to Captain in the next couple years and it was not long ago I remember watching him go through the training process. I can not imagine the difficulty these families are facing. Your prayers are needed. It is a dangerous job no matter how much experience and no matter how cautious you are.

Thank you to our firefighters for all you do.

Easter Joy

Jesus came to earth,
To show us how to live,
How to put others first,
How to love and how to give.

Then He set about His work,
That God sent Him to do;
He took our punishment on Himself;
He made us clean and new.

He could have saved Himself,
Calling angels from above,
But He chose to pay our price for sin;
He paid it out of love.

Our Lord died on Good Friday,
But the cross did not destroy
His resurrection on Easter morn
That fills our hearts with joy.

Now we know our earthly death,
Like His, is just a rest.
We'll be forever with Him
In heaven, where life is best.
